The aim:
To make Young People healthier and avoid health risks where
possible

For young people and professionals to be aware of the services
available - through training awareness

How we know it’s working:
Awareness levels measured against ‘Information and Advice’
baselines established in 2007 survey.
2. Healthy Decisions - Preventing harm
The aim:
- To raise self esteem and increase resilience to media and peer
pressures
- To make parents and carers aware of the pressures teenagers
face to avoid a risk situation
The outcome:
- For young people to be empowered and able to make positive
lifestyle choices before risk occurs.
- ‘Intoxic8’ prevention programme to have a 6 whole day work shop
in secondary schools, then to extend out of schools
- Parents/carers to have an increased knowledge of above issues
and practical ways to support them by producing mobile

How we know it’s working:
- Annual survey and feedback forms completed at the sessions to
identify if Young People issues met.

3. Healthy Minds - Emotional and psychological wellbeing
The aim:
- Young People and agencies that work with them to be aware of
the Young People emotional and psychological well being and raise
self esteem
- Raise awareness around parenting issues and support
available
The outcome:
- Explore the potential to extend outreach of the Healthy Minds
Forum to include YP and Parents
- Produce a conference for parents and agencies

4. Positive Relationships - Abuse
The aim:
Raise awareness of domestic abuse and positive relationships
The outcome:
Greater publicity and education packs for schools and wider
community through front line support

5. Active Lifestyle - Fitness and socialising
The aim:
- Encourage wider participation in sport along with more access
and opportunities
- Family participation in healthy lifestyles
The outcome:
- To be able to provide evidence of the delivery of the ‘TSN and
Sport and Active Recreation Strategy’ action plans:
- Raised awareness of benefits of sport and physical
activity
- Coach and volunteer development project
- Doorstep Sport’ project
- Delivery of the 7 family based MEND programmes, where support
is given to families to adopt long term healthy lifestyles

How we know its working:
- Increase activity 1% annually from 17.7% 2006/07 baseline.
- Survey users to determine prior activity levels and confirm
