1. Safe Perceptions - What is safe and how to protect
yourself
The aim:
- Improve Young People safety and perceptions of safety
- To ensure Young People are aware of their safety when
socialising online
The outcome:
- Surestart for teenagers project in Millmead open facilities to
give a safer place to socialise after dark
- To promote CEOP and associated training to Young People

How do we know its working:
- NI 21: Dealing with local concerns about ASB and crime by the
local council and police
- 2009 Youth Survey to establish baseline on awareness and
measure annually
2. Consultations - Young peoples ideas being used for young
peoples lives
The aim:
Making sure young people have a say in local decision making and
local issues
The outcome:
Ensure detached youth provision responds to ongoing
consultation
Who's responsible:
- Thanet Engage
- Engage Forum
How we know it’s working:
- Consultation
- NI 110: Young People participate in positive activities
3. Youth Events - Summer and Winter provisions, organised
events and youth bases
The aim:
- To ensure Young People, parents/carers are confident that their
Young People is participating in safe activities
- Improve access to CRB support provision
- YP to be able to access a wide programme of activities to
reduce risk of Anti social behaviour
- Develop the Sport 4 NRG programme
- Professionals to be aware of crime and safety issues identified
by Young People
The outcome:
- A Young People safety checklist for parents, i.e. What to be
aware of in youth provisions such as a CRB check
- Easier access to check staff
- All relevant partners will be involved in planning for youth
events

4. Crime - ASB and definitions
The aim:
- To deter Young People from engaging in crime and anti social
behaviour.
- Make aware of implications of engaging in crime and anti social
behaviour
The outcome:
- Thanet Community Safety Partnership and the youth forum to have
a link
- Junior Youth Inclusion Panel Crimebusters programme to be
expanded into Thanet schools and the wider community
Who’s responsible:
- Junior Youth Inclusion Panel project lead
- Engage forum
- Thanet Engage Executive
How do we know its working:
- Issues reported to the Thanet Community Safety Partnership
- NI 21: Dealing with local concerns about ASB and crime by the
local council and police
- 1 community event held in each town
- Pilot expansion in Margate school area
