2. Parents access - Support and facilities

The aim:

To improve access to support services and prevent family breakdown

 

The outcome:

Pilot family focussed music workshop

3. Respect and understanding - Adults, young people and different backgrounds

The aim:

Promote the positive profile of Young People and raise awareness of their personal achievements

 

The outcome:

Pilot a project that involves Young People working with agencies to address particular issues. Showcase results at a celebration event

4. Opportunities - Excluded groups – involvement

The aim:

  • Improve opportunities for Young People that are outside of mainstream provision. E.g. disabled Young People both in terms of special support and access to mainstream services
  • Ensure Youth Community Network action plan includes targeting of groups outside of mainstream provision

 

The outcome:

Thanet District Council Sportslink officer to encourage mainstream providers to open access to YP with disabilities

  • Support the Foreland School pilot project to improve integration with mainstream services through the extended schools provision
  • Awareness of the challenges faced by Young People with disabilities and their families

How do we know its working:

  • Baseline for disability participation rates for Thanet to be established for 06/07 via Active People survey. Increase activity by 1% annually
  • 08/09 number of sessions to be monitored and targets established.
  • NI 110: Young People participation in positive activities
