Buying stuff whatever the time of year can be hard, and with Christmas coming up we’ve thought up some good ways to help you save and make money to help…

Ways to earn money:

  • See a list of local jobs, find out about earning while you learn with apprentices schemes or EMA by visiting www.connexionskentandmedway.co.uk
  • Getting a job is not as easy as it sounds so for advice why not pop in to the Connexions offices in Albert Street, Ramsgate or College Road, Margate or call them on 01843 593395 / 232273.

Ways to save money:

  • Have a clothes swapping party with your mates
  • Get money off coupons by visiting www.moneyoffvouchers.co.uk or www.latestdiscountvouchers.co.uk
  • Swap and get free stuff from Thanet freecycle www.freecycle.org
  • Get free texts and minutes on your mobile - visit www.blyk.co.uk
  • When you get small change, don’t blow it on a soft drink or sandwich, save it up in a jar or tin and see how much you can save over a month
  • Walk or bike to places – saving money from your bus or train fares
  • Give up smoking – it’s not only smelly, unhealthy but it costs loads too!

Ways to make money:

  • Try and earn money by offering to do chores around the house or garden
  • If you have an older brother or sister ask if they would pay you to clean their room each week
  • If you’ve got the latest games console – why not rent it out to your mates
  • Sell stuff you or your family don’t use anymore either to your mates, at a bootfair, or list it on ebay (remember to ask permission from the owners!)
