Tackling crime in Thanet

The Thanet Community Safety Partnership is made up of representatives of Thanet District Council, Kent Police, Fire Service, the Probation Service, Kent County Council and the local Primary Care Trust. It works to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in Thanet. Here’s what it’s currently working on:

Thanet Night Bus

Over 500 people in Thanet have been helped home safely, thanks to Thanet Community Safety Partnership’s new popular night bus scheme.

The service, which was operated by Eastonways run for eight weeks over the summer on Friday and Saturday nights from 11pm until 3am.  It’s planned to be brought back into use over the festive holidays in December and will offer a service across Thanet.

Ramsgate dispersal order

Introduced in July, this dispersal order will run for six months to tackle anti social behaviour that’s affecting residents and visitors in the  Central Harbour and East Cliff wards of Ramsgate.

Dispersal areas are brought in after evidence of anti-social behaviour over a number of months is proven.  Once in place, police officers then have the power to move intimidating groups of 2 or more, for up to 24 hours. Children under the age of 16 can also be returned home after 9pm if they are not being supervised by an adult.
