Are you feeling the benefit?
Loads of people across the UK are not claiming money they’re
entitled to – are you one of those? If you’re a student living in
rented accommodation then you could be entitled to Housing and
Council Tax benefit (that’s money to pay your rent and Council Tax
bill).
To find out if you should apply, see if you meet the criteria
below:
- You’re a student in receipt of Income Support, Income-based Job
Seekers Allowance or Incapacity Benefit at the short-term higher or
long-term rate.
- You’re a part-time student, or a student under 19 years old in
further education or a student who is responsible for a child (this
includes foster children).
- You’re a student who receives Disability Living Allowance, are
registered blind or are 20 years old and receive Child
Benefit.
Single Room Rent - Are you in the know?
If you’re under 25 years old and live on your own, your Single
Room Rent under the Local Housing Allowance could be £60.50 per
week at the most.
You may be exempt from this if you are under 22 and have been
subjected to a care order, have a non-dependent living with you, or
if you qualify for the severe disability premium in your assessment
of Income Support/Income-based Job Seekers Allowance.
